alonso just won F1's first night race in history, spurs continued their losing streak going down 2 -0 to porthsmouth, U.S. lawmakers said they made breakthrough in rescue plans, there are still food / snack containing melamine on our supermarket shelves yada yada....
so wat?
life still has to go on. no matter how big the news, how dramatic it is, how dynamic its scope is, no one incident is that phenomenal to detract the fact that u r still alive, and that underlying means life still goes on.
unless you are dead, for everything ends there, but obviously for the majority of ppl, it wun happen, life dosen let u off easily, you still got tons of rice to digest, years of slogging at the workplace, buckets of tears to let flow.
to all the above said,
welcome to monday blues

Got my hands to a $150 Tangs voucher and resulted in some retail therapy.
Old vs New
KPE was a great new avenue to travel to town but the constant 70km/hr sign was a damper. it dosen help when theres always a camera sign just around the corner, and best of all, you dun even know where the camera is! and it is damn hot
Today was the so called start of F1, practice and tml is the qualifying round and sunday the matchday. i cant help but wonder, although it is right at our doorstep, it dosen really affect some ppl's life, they just carry on with their usual thing, work, home, tv, eat, slp and wait for the next alarm clock. I hope I wun get too much of something and thus too used to that thing that everything dosen seem to excite anymore.
Although im not a F1 fan, i got a glimpse of how it is to be at the scene to feel the atmosphere. was travelling towards vivo to use the tangs voucher when i passed by the singapore flyer area while on the ECP. even high up along the ECP, i can hear the revving of engines zooming pass. its loud and sure is a turn on shall make a note that i will attend next year's F1 if we are going to host it again next year.
i failed my "hi" test and this is the 2nd test i failed, can help but its damn sad and demoralized. its especially pek chek when u know the test dosen really prove a thing like hardwork, doing the right thing, moral integrity, just look at some companies and the crap their representative do and it dosen make a difference whether the "test" are legitimate or does it really does its purpose.
its the last 15 working days in the current company and im feeling shitty every single day, it sucks to feel like robot knowing you are only a robot only able to perform robot activities. its nothign to do with the ppl, might be the system, might be the policies. cant wait for the day to get out. moral of the story: dun get stuck at situations / environments / jobs when you know there is no future feeling jaded every single day. money is not everything, but ur time is.
was checking out hdb's flat application system, the number of chances, homes available and their furniture layout plans when a thought ran through the head: " i should start browsing home decoration magazines to plan my new home". The thought was out of the head when the lady said "no money nothing to think, when got money den say"

once again, its at the end of Sunday, and monday blues cant wait to embrace me with open its arms.
Credits to colleague / supervisor, i attended my virgin music showcase with the lady. it was elva's new album promotional showcase tickets which were available to all consumers who bought her new album. Although it was a short 45mins to 1 hr affair, its kinda fun
to 15 more working days.

The political way

Copied this from cowboycaleb, well said, if u do not know office politics, heres a start
How To Lose To Win & Other Tales of Suspense
One morning I received an early morning call from a senior manager. He sounded very distraught and asked if he could speak personally with me.
Some time last year, he screwed up big-time in the awarding of a multi-million dollar contract and got accused of corruption. Although these accusations were never proven, they were enough to taint his reputation. And to make matters worse, he made a few enemies in the fallout. On a personal note, I remain convinced he is innocent partly because no evidence was ever found but also because he’s a sweet familyman type middle-aged manager who looks like a great person to take a fall and the blame.
So I went over to his office, and he showed me a string of emails where once again he was being attacked and accused of matters pertaining to personal integrity. The worst part was, the person after him was a god. And not just any god, but the god that approves all things small and big.
He wanted to lodge an official complaint but I stopped him and asked him to stop thinking with his heart and use his head instead.
- Lodging a complain will do nothing but antagonize the god and make him attack you even more frequently. Why start a war you cannot win?
- Your reputation is tainted. Nobody will help openly you for fear of being infected. You’re on your own.
- Lodging a complaint is not going to make HR is not going to help you. The god outranks them. Hell, he controls them.
- Your boss is going to have to cross paths with this god in the future. You are not going to be his subordinate forever. Sticking his neck out for you, has more disadvantages to his career.
Therefore, lodging a complaint is not the solution although his heart was crying out for some damned justice. What he need to focus on, was how to end this once and for all.
My advice to him was to write a personal email to the god that goes like this.
Dear god,
The manner in which this entire affair has been handled has gone down the wrong path.
I’d like to offer my apologies for my words and actions.
I will fly to your country on Wednesday and discuss with you this matter from the beginning and hear your views on how it should be done. And in the future, all similar matters will immediately be sent to you for your decision.
regards,
middle-aged manager
When you write a letter of apology although you are not in the wrong, it shows that you’re the bigger man. If the apology is not accepted, then the god proves that he is a barbarian. But the god is not dumb, therefore the trap is sprung. He has to accept your apology and cannot continue his vendetta.

Of Dreams

Blinkingmummy finally blogged after such a long time. her blog has been a daily haunt after classes / work / spare time with her differentiated views and way of life.
So she started a new journey by taking her mba, in U.K. Cambridge to be exact.
Its not Cambridge prestige or still able to study at this age thing that amazes me, in fact it was the being in a new place, seeing new things, trying new things that fascinates me.
and it feels sad to be stuck here, not really able to do wat i feel like doing,
just watch her video in cambridge and you might get it.

Financial Turmoil
Thursday, September 18, 2008
Now that the financial upheaval is on its way, it simply presents a great opportunity for long term investors ( i dunno if im considered one having tried alot of styles and strategies)
Having tried enough strategies, i think long term works for me, you dun need to be in the market everyday, just need to have a gd grasps of when and where things might take a turn for the worst, it should be able to earn me decent returns.
these kind of turmoil dun come twice, grab it well and you'll be rewarded.
be patient.

Last to Come and First to Leave
Sunday, September 07, 2008
sunday is by far most awaited day of the week. after 5 days in the office, sunday is not just a govt delacred rest day, but a very impt day to recharge and live life on our own terms at our own pace.
morning sunday in my terms mean the thrill of sweaty soccer and chatting up with friends be it hows the job coming along to how is liverpool going to fare after torres get injured to the life in australia.
after soccer and a few hrs of rest, the evening represends an occasional (fast becoming regular) mahjong / ban luck / texas hold'em followed by a dim sum treat by the winner always end the day on a great note, and a full stomach to get in bed with.
To the next sunday, and many more to come
sunday sunday,
always last to come,
and the first to leave.
