this sense of mental tranquility has been long overdue, the icing on the cake was the 10 chapter test yesterday. It feels gd having to come to work not worrying whether you have enough time to study, able to slack and surf without guilt. Shall enjoy a few days of slack before starting for the final papers…….. again.

Anyway, caught this on the web:

I don't believe there is such a thing as a 'born' soccer player. Perhaps you are born with certain skills and talents, but quite frankly it seems impossible to me that one is actually born to be an ace soccer player. Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. It is because of this that I decided to help youngsters with my experience. That's why this book exists.

Judging from hindsight, those who tasted success would be able say this, but wat about those who tried as hard and fail, those are the stories untold that are worth hearing, not success revelations that we are so so used to hear and see on the news.

They say when you dun give up, you will reach your destination one day. But whether you still have the capital (money, health, sacrifices required to be made) to reach that day is another matter.

Btw the quote was from Pele from here

In the workplace there are these particular kind of ppl who leech.

They leech your morale and motivation with all their shit jobs (sai kang), giving you extra work even thou its as minute as dispatching, walking an extra few steps. Its like that extra 30 secs of their most precious life must not be wasted and must well reduce it by passing it on to someone, anyone…. whoever

Although hes not your boss and far from it, you cant do shit because hes bigger than you, higher ranking, more senior. He even has a whole department under him not to mention those stuck-ups who are more than willing to carry his shoes and gracefully catch all those shit that he throws.

The most you can do is to accept all the shit with the most dulan face you can phantom and not say a single word trying to make it known with all that silence. But apparently these ppl have a very high sense of denial, deny that they saw your face, or simply dun care about how you feel or wat you feel because the shit is now your responsibility, period.

Am really contemplating of purposely cocking up some of his shit and let him distrust me so that he will find some other sway jiao to do all the shit.

was talking to one of my best friend at the workplace, a 50odd mother of 2, both childs older than me and still struggling.

we happened to branch into the topic of marriage and expenses. she had her first child at the age of 26. she mentioned that the elder son at 25 is far far away from marriage due to studies and career. The son said “ma, if your gone one day, dun sell the flat, me and mei mei will know wat to do with it”

she said at that time, it wasn’t hard nor financially tight to make that decision, it just came and she went with the flow, btw, there was a govt law capping a max of 2 children each couple.

5 years away from it, I wonder if I’ll be able to achieve that feat by that time, considering a 20k wedding dinner (if not the lady’s paternal side will think ur not good enough for their daughter), a 5k honeymoon, not mentioning big items like housing or renovation, no wonder she highly doubt my generation would be able to achieve that.

Looking at statistics such as the increasing population and rising cost, it daunts on me that we’ll be like hong kong one day, thou having a neat financial system, law and population to sustain that growth and GDP, its housing cost is scary.

Land is limited while we give birth to more and more with the govt calling to us for more labour force, in the name of seeking talents, more subsidy for more children, it wouldn’t be far to suggest that our gross plot ratio will hit hk’s in no time.

At that time one measly 3rm flat would be costly at much as 200k and all of us would be fang nu(house slave) or che nu(car slave)

No wonder ppl these days dun hold weddings, anyway its just an announcement with an open invitation for free food bundled with tiresome chores and very adult consequences.

its 2am on a monday morning, just caught nip tuck on channel 5. on the back of a nice weekend with lotsa slack, everything here just seems too real, too surreal to come back to. being ushered back to the rush and battles of the current world.

sometimes the lure of getting lost or just feeling lost feels alright.

the first feel was a faint smile, things where nice and detailed.
the 2nd feel was a deep grin, there are so many side effects or externalities, or consequences that are borne by 3rd parties

i believe there is an artistic side in everyone of us. but the ones that make it are those that can transform fantasy into reality. you will know if you have that ability they call talent when stuff turns out like that. find out more in the above address. personally, i was intrigued by the marble table and the chime leavers.

the artistic side in me is growing

which is bad, becos i will spend more money trying to beautify stuff.

the key word is trying to.

Take a look.
Take a deeper look.
Look at it again.
Tell me what is this?
Caught on http://www.eatsleepart.com/, this is where milk meets coffee. sure looks alien-ic with its spirals and too evenly spread out splatter, even the distance of each splatter seems the same.
the more i look at it, it somehow feels like a mushroom

Couldn’t help feeling a little lost these days with no direction and pace. So I took a peek at a previous July 16 post http://ikaira.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html.

Upon comparing the aims I wanted at then, things have drifted a little now. Those that appeared important at that time were not as important as now.

1. pass the 2 IBF test (I realized I dun need this to get into the company I wanna get in)

2. get the coaching license (thou I still wan that cert, theres this waste money waste time voice getting louder, esp when I do not intend to pursue this adventure any further

3. get the scuba diving license (I still want this, the feel is still there, just that no time, or I SAID no time)

4. understand futures and options (same as above, I SAID no time)

5. save up for a new bike (I really need this a lot, with the current bike starting to give problems)

6. survive university (guess my colleagues are making my stay there much much easier)

7. in the midst of all these, enjoy life, enjoy frens, enjoy family (I guess I have been doing more of this these days, spending more money here and there, enjoying the luxury and letting the future decide itself den to worry about it now)

Some inspiration for those down, out or those who need a little direction

How peak performers take control of their lives.

Is your work and life organization out of control? Do you read all the time management books but still never seem to have enough time?

Take a page out of the peak performer’s book of life and hear what they do to organize, choose tasks wisely, execute well, achieve highly and enjoy their success at the same time.

Here are 10 mental game success strategies that peak performers use in self-management.

1 Know what motivates you.
Top producers know what makes them tick. They know what it takes to get the creative, competitive juices flowing. They know how to tap their passion and create the energy needed for a project. They assess what motivates them and then seek opportunities to match those energies.

2 Be aware of your options.
People who race through their day are like a race-car driver. They view around them is a blur. Slow down to notice your options and sense new opportunities. You create this clear focus by starting each day and each task with a quiet time that realigns you with your purpose, mission and values.

3 Train yourself to act promptly.
Reflection, planning and strategizing are essential. When the time comes to act, the peak performers goes for it enthusiastically – he pulls out all the stops

4 Realize that you never arrive.
Listen to high achievers and they all say that they wish they knew early on that success and happiness are not something “out there” in the future. Success is striving towards a goal while being content and grateful for what you have today. Seek your dreams with reverence for the gifts you have been given now and do not put happiness off until something “better” arrives.

5 Use success to energies yourself.
Do you celebrate only your large successes? Do you downplay the smaller, day-to-day victories? Peak performers celebrate both and more. They seek opportunities to reinforce their efforts so that they are continually energized and motivated to stay on track and to perform at higher levels.

6 Realize that life is a do-it-yourself project.
Peak performers do not wait for anyone to save them, coach them or help them overcome obstacles. They of course seek help as needed, but first and foremost they take an “I must help myself first” approach to life. They realize that success begins and ends with them, and that they must take the initiative in helping themselves first.

7 Understand that life is not a dress rehearsal.
Life is short. Life is unpredictable. Life needs to be lived today, in the present. Peak performers carry a continual sense of mortality around to remind themselves that every second is precious. Therefore, everything they do deserves their best, highest-quality effort.

8 Get ready to act.
Peak performers use rituals or psych-up systems to prepare themselves for springing into action with laser focus. They purposely take time before any “performance” to mentally, physically and emotionally get ready so that they can operate optimally for that special moment.

9 Write to stay on track.
Top performers use a written journal to sharpen self-awareness, dream, savor victories, make corrections, set goals and objectives and have a private confidant.

10 Stop procrastinating.
To ignore something you must do is to make is like making a decision not to do it. Productive people strive for the mental discipline it takes to make reasoned decisions, to hold themselves accountable and to minimize the number of tasks that they “forgot about”

Your mental game action plan
What action will you take this week to become better at self-management? Here are three tips to get you started:

Think of a system you can use to become more organized. Can you hire a coach? Work with a friend? Write in a journal?

Celebrate your successes more often to create energy and momentum for achieving your goals. Instead of waiting for the “big” success at the end of a month, quarter or year, think about what you can view as a success worthy of enjoying every day.

Translate what you learn about yourself into immediately useful action. Learn to motivate yourself, create more urgency to achieve, enjoy the process more, and get more done.

Peak performers create a healthy sense of urgency to propel themselves along their exciting path. Take a page out of their book and write your own success chapters in that very important book – your life

theres this nice feeling going through the air cos

1 liverpool scored 10 goals for this week and even sissoko scored a wonder goal which may be hes already scored only goal for the season? it sure feels gd when ur faith repays, but then again, out of so many billions of fans out there, do your faith really make a difference?

2 the girlfriend finally got her mum to loan her the degree fees. her mum is crap, so crap and unpredictable that the best solution is to stand out of her way, dun question, dun wonder, dun assume, just let her be

3 the boss is finally back, thou i wun get to slack as much, it promises me of less time to do stupid things, somehow, due to his absence, time passed real slow, all the more making the 8 mths unbearable. keep having this voice telling me every morning, dun go la, see, even the weather says so because its raining.

4 the cousin's starting to be an entrepreneur, first being a western food stall at bedok blk 760, most likely to commence business by end Sep, must come and support. we should in fact support the dreamer and not condemn it, for everyone wants to break free, live life outside the mould, make this will fail? or maybe he can get lucky first time around, but if he perserves, he will make it someday.

5 i managed a gorl and grabbed a penalty which our keeper converted during the sunday match. the final score was 5-1, thou and goal and pen sounds nice, i didnt fit into the game as much as i like to. hopefully i'll get the rythem going soon.
